The Rock’s WrestleMania match was seemingly revealed in a new advertisement.
On February 11th, WWE released a cinematic trailer to hype WrestleMania 40. Continuing the events from the press conference a few days earlier, Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes are seen on one side of the shot standing face to face with The Rock and Roman Reigns on the other side.
Clips of the press conference were spliced in between, showing Rhodes and Reigns being separated at the T-Mobile Arena when The American Nightmare was slapped by the Hollywood star. Additionally, Triple H can be heard uttering the phrase “We are going to take it to a whole new level” to add to the magnitude of the event.
The press conference did not go the way that Rock and Reigns had planned, As Cody Rhodes interrupted and made his decision for Philadelphia, announcing to the world that he would face Reigns once again at WrestleMania. With things getting personal due to families being brought into the equation, the aforementioned physicality ensued.
As was seen at the conference when all hostilities died down, The Rock confronted Triple H backstage and demanded that things be fixed. Cameras would also see The People’s Champion and The Tribal Chief leave together, seemingly forming a new alliance. With the duo standing side by side opposite Rhodes and Rollins, it appears that a major tag team match will be a part of the weekend, likely on night 1.
Despite there being rumours that this match could take place at Elimination Chamber, Dave Meltzer has confirmed that The Rock will only be performing at WrestleMania.
The Rock To Return To SmackDown
Despite The Great One demanding that Rhodes’ decision should be reversed and he should face Reigns, Triple H would not budge, stating on the February 9th SmackDown that he is the one who makes the decisions. Looking to change things once again, Rock and Reigns will both be appearing live on the February 16th episode of SmackDown. Additionally, this show will be a double taping as the roster will be flying to Australia for Elimination Chamber, meaning the go-home episode on the 23rd will be pre-taped.
According to a new report, it is now known who pitched the WWE creative changes for The Rock.
