WWE sent out a heartfelt tribute to Paige as she said farewell to her wrestling home of more than a decade.
Upon the expiry of her contract on July 7th, Paige left WWE after more than 10 years with the sports entertainment giant.
Ahead of her departure the star wrote a goodbye letter for The Players Tribune, paying tribute to the company, and everyone who helped her become the star that she did. In the letter she tipped her hat to the women she shared the ring with, as well as reserving special thanks for Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.
It seems that the warm feeling also goes extends the other way, with WWE paying tribute to the Anti-Diva’s “remarkable career” in a post on social media.
“Forever her house. Cheers to @realpaigewwe on a remarkable WWE career! 👏 The two-time Divas Champion previously announced that today marks the end of her tenure in WWE.”
Paige signed with WWE in 2011 and went on to become the first-ever NXT Women’s Champion. She added the Divas Championship in 2014, defeating AJ Lee in her first match on the main roster. The win made her the first woman to hold the NXT and Divas Titles simultaneously, while also being the youngest Women’s Champion in history.
However the star was forced to retire in 2018 after a series of neck injuries took their toll.
It was also recently announced that Paige will be appearing at Starrcast V, for what will currently be her first post-WWE wrestling-related appearance.
Inside The Ropes’ very own Kenny McIntosh will be hosting a special panel at Starrcast V featuring Bret Hart, as he looks back on his legendary clash with the British Bulldog at SummerSlam 1992.
