According to a new report, former WWE Raw stars Veer Mahaan and Commander Azeez aren’t currently factored into any forthcoming WWE plans. This may be the case for quite some time, given that they’ve reportedly been sent back to the WWE Performance Center for further training.
As was reported by Fightful Select, neither man is going to be a focal point of WWE programming moving forward. The change in WWE leadership is believed to be the cause for this, given Vince McMahon’s petulance to push bigger, muscular performers, whereas Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque prefers to focus on smaller, more agile stars.
Both Veer Mahaan and Commander Azeez have missed the majority of programming since Triple H took over WWE creative in July in lieu of Vince McMahon’s sudden retirement. Veer has wrestled just one Raw match since the management change; Azeez, meanwhile, last competed in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
WWE Is Going In A New Direction
The lack of plans for Veer and Azeez won’t surprise many. During Triple H’s successful run as NXT booker, it was rare for a larger-than-life WWE Superstar to make it far in the black-and-gold brand without a character and/or otherworldly athleticism to back themselves up. Keith Lee, Dominik Dijakovic, and others all did, hence why they thrived.
Now booking main roster WWE, ‘The Game’ has already shifted the focus onto the style of wrestler he preferred in NXT, thereby allowing the likes of Tommaso Ciampa, Sami Zayn, and several more to flourish. He is, however, still incorporating some of the old Vince McMahon style, teasing a colossal showdown between Braun Strowman and Omos for Crown Jewel.
It’s unknown what, exactly, will happen to Veer Mahaan and Commander Azeez. Veer has seemingly returned to NXT full-time, reuniting with his former Indus Sher partner Sanga on the live event circuit. Azeez also made a brief, if random, appearance on an untelevised NXT house show as the bodyguard for Cora Jade, though this appears to have been a one-off.
