WWE Hall Of Famer Understands Why John Cena Turned Heel For The Rock

The Rock Compares Crowd Reaction Of John Cena Heel Turn To Iconic WWE WrestleMania 18 Match

Another WWE Hall of Famer has opened up on John Cena’s heel turn.

On 1st March 2025 in Toronto, at the Elimination Chamber PLE, John Cena won the Chamber match, and earned his title shot against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41. However, the greed of his 17th World title made John Cena turn heel and join hands with The Rock.

However, while neither Cena nor The Final Boss have shared their mind on it, multiple other talents have addressed the incident. Similarly, Hall of Famer Rikishi also shared his thoughts on the situation, and claimed he understands why Cena turned heel and joined forces with The Brahma Bull.

On the latest episode of his Off The Top podcast, Rikishi brought up his own heel from several years ago, and related with Cena. Almost 25 years ago, Rikishi had turned heel on Stone Cold Steve Austin, and even he had done it for The Rock.

“Yeah, I did it for The Rock. How about that? You asked me what’s my favorite. That there, I get it. I get it, what Cena is going through, man. I understand it. When you say you’re selling out, man, I did it for The Rock. I did it for The Rock. ‘I did it, I did it.’ That turn there, I thought it was iconic.”

Back during an episode of Raw in 1999, Austin was hit by a car by Rikishi, who later claimed that he “did it for The Rock”. Although it became a milestone moment in pro-wrestling history, it has also recently evolved into a popular meme.
