WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long shared a startling story from his time in the NWA.
In a recent interview on Wrestling Shoot Interviews, Teddy Long recounted an incident involving the late wrestling manager Gary Hart and wrestling legend Ric Flair.
Long revealed that during a period when he and Flair were experiencing some personal issues, Hart approached him with an unusual proposition. Hart handed Long a blade as a means of self-defence against Flair. Shockingly, Hart allegedly instructed Long to cut Flair’s throat if the wrestling icon continued to cause trouble. Long said:
I was having problems with [Ric] Flair and I guess Gary [Hart] probably knew what was going on so he came to me one time and told me he made this blade and he said if Flair kept bothering me he told me to take that blade and cut his throat. My right hand to god I’d have no reason to lie.
While the wrestling industry is no stranger to dramatic storylines and intense rivalries, this revelation sheds light on the dark undercurrents that sometimes permeate behind the scenes.
What Is Teddy Long Doing Now?
Teddy Long currently works as a commissioner for the Georgia-based independent promotions Main Event Wrestling and Independent Wrestling Network.
On the January 23rd episode of Raw Long made an appearance where he booked a six-man tag match between Seth Rollins and The Street Profits taking on Imperium after Imperium were disrespectful to D-Generation-X.
