This WWE Hall of Famer is not a fan of how Jey Uso is being booked currently.
At WrestleMania 41, Jey Uso shocked the world when he defeated Gunther to win his first World Heavyweight Championship. Since then, Uso has successfully defended his title against Seth Rollins and Logan Paul.
Now, Uso has been booked to face John Cena and Paul in a tag-team match with Cody Rhodes at the Money in the Bank PLE. However, his father and Hall of Famer Rikishi recently slammed the creative decision to involve Uso in a tag match. Rikishi believes the promotion should have gone ahead with a gimmick match between Uso and Paul. Speaking on his Off The Top podcast, he said:
“Bro why? Why? I mean, Jey is a world heavyweight champion by himself. Okay. Oh, they really need to fire creative service over there now. Just book me so I can book my son’s matches out there, man. You know what I mean? Okay, you had me, but when they brought in Paul. Like I said on a past podcast, I like Logan. I thought uce, he’s got skills. He’s very entertaining. He knows how to get heat. But damn, I wouldn’t have beat him the first time they locked up together.
Could’ve just waited till a cage match or some type of gimmick match or something. Paul, he’s got heat, right? He’s got heat and this will probably be his biggest spotlight in WWE. They’re both young, Jey is young, Paul is young. Now you beat Paul, now where do you go. Into a tag team bout? Like, okay. Alright.”
‘Main Event’ Jey Uso is also scheduled to face Gunther on the 9th June episode of Raw after the Money in the Bank PLE. Addressing his son’s upcoming fight against The Ring General, Rikishi further claimed,
“We’re just gonna hunker Gunther out. Just hang around, Gunther. If I was Gunther, I want Jey right now damnit. Give me Jey right now. It could have went either Jey and Logan or I mean, it has to be some type of gimmick match for him and Gunther. It’s got to be one of those big double cages or something. Just some make believe gimmick type of match to bring some type of excitement to it.
Two things can happen, either they give it to Jey again off the gimmick match, which excels him to the next level. It’s bad for Gunther, just alright, where do you go from there? But, it took Jey three times before he beat Gunther, so I think it’s only fair to be able to give Gunther three chances and maybe beat him three times. Or not, depends. But still man, it’s like, goes back to whoever is writing it. But what do I know.”

On 7th June 2025, during the Money in the Bank PLE, Rikishi’s son Solo Sikoa, will also compete in the Money in the Bank ladder match.
WWE Hall Of Famer Sees Himself In Jey Uso And Bryan Danielson
In an interview with Casino Beats, DDP named Jey Uso and Bryan Danielson as two stars he sees himself in.
“I think, for me, Diamond Dallas Page was just a little bit of the American dream. He’s a little bit of Savage. He’s a little bit of Terry Funk. He’s a lot of Jake, the Snake Roberts, they all make one DDP. The guys who I see who have come up, who really took the crowd the way I did, and I think they took it even further, either Bryan Danielson back when he was Daniel Bryan, back when he was in WWE. Jey Uso, when he got that YEET shit over man.”
