As AEW President, Tony Khan has a lot on his plate.
Not only does he need to manage both Ring of Honor and All Elite Wrestling television programming after acquiring ROH last year, he’s also preparing to announce a new deal with broadcast partner Warner Bros Discovery that will include the debut of a new Saturday evening show called Collision.
In addition, the company is preparing to make its debut in the United Kingdom when it presents All In inside the iconic Wembley Stadium on August 27th. Tickets sales are through the roof for the event, and according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, there’s an astoundingly low percentage of those tickets on the secondary market.
Speaking on the latest episode of his Hall of Fame podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T spoke about Khan’s many responsibilities, saying it would be wise for the AEW President to take a step back in order to make sure he’s managing his company smoothly.
“I would make sure I was viewing this thing from the perspective where I could see everything going on and make sure I manage that thing properly. Sometimes that means you’ve got to take a step back to take a step forward.”
Continuing, Booker said that it would be wise for Khan to delegate some responsibilities to people he trusts.
“It’s so hard for Tony Khan to do the business side, the production side, the writing, and if he’s doing all of that, that’s why I say take a step back to take a step forward. Make sure you get the right people around you doing that and trust them, more importantly than anything. But you’ve got to have the right people to trust.” (h/t WrestlingInc)
Tony Khan Promised A Huge Announcement On AEW Dynamite
On the May 10th episode of Dynamite, Khan appeared in a backstage segment to promise a huge announcement to be made on May 17th. It’s expected that the announcement is regarding the debut of the company’s new Collision show, which will reportedly feature the return of CM Punk for the first time since his brawl with The Elite following All Out.
“I think that tonight in Detroit we have one of the strongest Dynamite cards we’ve ever had. This is one of the best line-ups, with some of the best matches, and some of the best wrestlers in AEW on tonight’s show. In addition to all the great wrestlers and all of the great wrestlers you’re going to see tonight, in the back, there are literally stars lined up looking for chances to wrestle in AEW.
I think it’s clearer than ever that AEW can produce even more great content every week.
I’d like you to stay tuned to TNT next Wednesday for a huge announcement, and then please join us next Wednesday on AEW Dynamite where we’ll follow up on one of the most important announcements ever, in the history of AEW.” (h/t Inside the Ropes)
