A WWE Hall of Famer has looked back on the biggest victory of their career and the notable error they made following the win.
As Edge was forced to vacate the World Heavyweight Championship in 2007 due to injury, a battle royal was held to determine a new champion. The match was ultimately won by The Great Khali and would be his only title reign in the company. Celebrating the victory, Khali posed in the ring with the gold. However, as the new champion held the tile above his head, the championship was upside down.
In the years that followed, fans have questioned why the Hall of Famer posed with the title upside down following the victory. During a virtual signing at K & S WrestleFest, Khali admitted that he was excited at becoming champion and did not realise what happened until later on:
“Yeah, yeah, exactly (I realized I was holding the World Heavyweight Title upside down when I won it). First time. I’m so excited. So I just hold it the wrong way. But later, I realized, aw sh*t. Because I (was) excited. I just, ‘Ahh!!…’ Big mistake. Unfortunately, I hold the wrong way.”
Khali last competed in WWE as part of The Greatest Royal Rumble back in 2018. When asked if he would consider a cameo appearance in a future match, the Hall of Famer was very open to the idea:
“I love it. I love it.”
