WWE Hall Of Famer Names Rey Mysterio As Dream Opponent He Never Faced

WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart has revealed that current WWE star Rey Mysterio tops his list of dream opponents he regrettably never had the opportunity to face during his storied wrestling career.

During a revealing conversation on “The Ringer Wrestling Show,” the five-time WWE Champion expressed disappointment at never having the chance to match his renowned technical expertise against Mysterio’s innovative high-flying Lucha Libre style.

There’s all kinds of different styles and different… you know, I wish I could have wrestled someone like Rey Mysterio. I never really wrestled a Lucha Libre style guy. I would love to have done some stuff, especially if I was a bad guy.

The Canadian wrestling icon, celebrated worldwide for his technical precision and psychological storytelling in the ring, acknowledged that while he had experience working with aerial specialists – most notably his brother Owen Hart – facing Rey Mysterio would have presented a distinctive challenge that “The Hitman” would have embraced wholeheartedly.

I would’ve loved to have worked with Rey, although I did wrestle Owen and did a lot of high-flying stuff. You know, I was always a guy that liked a good challenge.

What makes these reflections particularly bittersweet is that both Hart and Mysterio were simultaneously employed by WCW in the late 1990s, yet a match between the two wrestling icons never materialised. Their sole collaboration came during Hart’s brief 2010 WWE return when they teamed together at a house show.

Hart concluded by offering the highest praise for Mysterio, describing the former World Champion as “one of the greatest wrestlers of all time” and a truly “special” performer.
