WWE Hall of Famer and current AEW coach, Mark Henry, has revealed that his AEW contract is set to expire on May 28th, and he has chosen not to seek a renewal with the company.
Speaking on “Busted Open Radio,” Mark Henry expressed gratitude for his time with AEW and shared insights into his future plans following the conclusion of his contract.
During the segment, Henry reflected on the impending expiration of his AEW contract, expressing appreciation for his collaborative journey with AEW and Tony Khan. He emphasised the positive experiences he had with the Khan family and underscored his decision to shift his focus towards managing his personal ventures, including markhenry.com and the Remarkable brand.
My contract with AEW is set to expire tomorrow the 28th [of May] and today is the 27th. Tony Khan said at the press conference that he was very proud of what we did together and I feel exactly the same way. I appreciate everything that happened at AEW with Tony Khan and the Khan family, I had a great experience and I do feel like it’s time for me to take more time to handle hemarkhenry.com and the Remarkable brand and focus that attention on what my next steps are.
Mark Henry articulated his belief that stepping away from AEW at this juncture aligns with his vision to dedicate more time to his entrepreneurial pursuits.
Acknowledging the mutually agreed decision to part ways with AEW, Mark Henry emphasised the significance of maintaining a positive conclusion to the professional relationship. While affirming his unwavering commitment to pro wrestling and his enduring desire to assist others in the industry, Henry articulated his intention to embark on a period of focused project work before making a full-fledged return to the wrestling arena.
I am not going to be renewing my deal, I think that it’s a mutual thing if I can’t dedicate 100% of myself then it’s only fair for both parties to end the relationship on a positive note. Like I said it’s been nothing but positive, I’ve done my best to help as many people as I could.
There were still some things that I wanted to help with that I didn’t get to finish but those people have my phone number and anytime that they need to call me I’m available for them. I am not leaving pro wrestling, what I’m saying is I’m going to take some time to work on some projects and I’m going to come back again in full force because that’s what I do.
