WWE Hall of Famer Wanted Retirement Match With Cody Rhodes

By Joshua Jones. Published 30th June 2022.

One WWE Hall of Famer says Cody Rhodes is a top-tier talent in the company.

Cody Rhodes garnered a lot of respect after his gutsy win at Hell in a Cell against Seth Rollins. He had torn his pectoral muscle before the match and wrestled despite not yet receiving surgery. Although Rhodes reinvented himself after his initial WWE release in 2016, one WWE Hall of Famer believes he’s on the same level as former WWE champions.

On his “Hall of Fame” podcast, Booker T said that he always believed Rhodes was a talented wrestler and wanted to work with him. He also put Rhodes’ name on the same level as superstars such as John Cena and Batista.

“I wanted to work with Cody Rhodes, I wanted to have my last match in the ring in WWE with Cody,” Booker stated. “… I always thought Cody was at the same level as Seth Rollins, Batista, and all of that other group that came out, John Cena, and all of that. I always thought Cody was just as talented.”

The 5 time WCW Champion and Rhodes did work together briefly in 2011 when Rhodes was holding the Intercontinental Championship. That year, Rhodes successfully defended the championship against Booker T at the Tables, Ladders & Chairs PPV. The feud with Rhodes was the two-time WWE Hall of Famer’s last singles feud in WWE.
