JBL has made another non-WWE appearance, this time at a Game Changer Wrestling show.
Yesterday, the first night of GCW Homecoming – taking place in Atlantic City, New Jersey – ended with a four-way ladder match for the GCW World Championship. Mance Warner was defending against Joey Janela, Matt Cardona, and former champion Blake Christian, and ultimately ended up retaining his title – but he had some help along the way.
Near the end of the match, Effy interfered to stop Warner from grabbing the belt. JBL then made his appearance, sporting a trench coat and cowboy hat. The 57-year old delivered a punch and a pair of Clotheslines from Hells to Effy, allowing Warner to climb the ladder and retain.

JBL made similar headlines recently when he appeared at Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide’s Triplemanía XXXII: Mexico City event on August 17, his first non-WWE appearance since 1995. JBL accompanied Nic Nemeth to the ring for the AAA Mega Championship match, where Nemeth lost his title to Alberto El Patrón.
The physical nature of JBL’s GCW appearance may come as a surprise to some, seeing as JBL’s last match was all the way back in 2009 at WrestleMania 25, where he lost the Intercontinental title to Rey Mysterio in 21 seconds. After a lengthy stint as a commentator, JBL left the SmackDown commentary team in 2017, and since then has only made sporadic appearances on WWE programming.
JBL Thanks Two Wrestling Legends For His Successful WWE Career
JBL has recently taken to X to reminisce on his wrestling career, including his time spent in Japan. However, JBL has surprisingly credited two WCW stars from the Monday Night Wars with helping him maintain a level of success in WWE that he “never dreamed” of achieving.
