WWE Hall Of Famer Does Not Want To See This Happen During John Cena's Final Run

A WWE Hall of Famer does not want to see a common fan request come true as part of the John Cena retirement tour.

After repeatedly stating in media interviews that the last match would be happening sooner rather than later, John Cena made an appearance at Money in the Bank in Toronto and announced that WrestleMania 41 would be his last time appearing at the biggest show of the year. Providing further clarification in the post-show press conference, Cena stated that he aimed to do a full calendar year in WWE and that he would have his final match in December.

With fans already fantasy booking potential opponents for the big shows and who should receive the honour of being in the last match, a common prediction is that the 16-time World Champion may win title number 17 to break the long-standing record held by Ric Flair. While many fans would love to see Cena as the top champion one final time, Booker T is against the idea.

Speaking about Cena’s retirement on his Hall of Fame podcast, the NXT announcer stated that he would not put the title on Cena as the Hollywood star would be a part-time champion, which is something that Cena has spoken out about in the past:

“I wouldn’t put the title on him, just because it’s the farewell tour,” Booker said. “I wouldn’t do it, because if you put it on him, he’s gonna have to defend it. He’s gonna have to go out and perform. He’s gonna have to perform on a regular basis, and for John to be a part-timer, like something he said he would never be [and] never wanted to do when The Rock was doing it. That would be kind of hypocritical.”

When asked about the 2025 schedule where Cena stated he was aiming to be present for 30 to 40 dates, Booker T stated that while he can see Cena being at 30 events, he doubts they will all lead to matches:

“I don’t even see John Cena having 30 matches. I see John making 30 appearances, but I don’t see him having 30 matches. It’s not something that John Cena really, really needs to do.”

Could Top TNA Star Become The Next John Cena?

With Cena set to retire within the next 18 months, the WWE legend is a guaranteed Hall of Famer and has one of the longest lists of professional wrestling accomplishments in the history if the business. While the expectations have been set extremely high for anyone to live up to, a top TNA star believes that Joe Hendry could become the next John Cena.

With the stars lining up to face John Cena, another former rival has thrown their hat in the ring.
