WWE Hall of Famer Arn Anderson shared his thoughts on whether The Road Warriors—one of the most iconic tag teams in wrestling history—could have achieved similar success as singles competitors.
Speaking on his podcast, ARN, Anderson expressed doubt that the legendary duo of Hawk and Animal, managed by Paul Ellering, would have reached the same heights if they had pursued individual careers.
Not as good as they were, they’re a team, and Paul, it was a package deal. I don’t think splitting them up would have added anything. I think it would have taken away. It was just a good package, the three of those guys.
The Road Warriors, also known as The Legion of Doom, enjoyed unparalleled success in the tag team division throughout their careers, capturing numerous World Tag Team Championships across major promotions such as WWE, WCW, and the NWA. Their unique blend of power, aggression, and a fearsome aesthetic made them a dominant force and fan favourites worldwide.
Hawk and Animal were inducted into both the WWE and NWA Hall of Fame, cementing their legacy as one of wrestling’s all-time great tag teams. While other wrestlers occasionally joined or substituted in The Road Warriors lineup, Hawk and Animal remain the most iconic pairing. Sadly, both Hawk and Animal have since passed away—Hawk in 2003 and Animal in 2020—leaving behind a storied legacy that continues to inspire tag teams today.
Which Fellow WWE Hall Of Famer Did Arn Anderson Say Is “Double Tough?”
Arn Anderson spoke about how he first met fellow WWE Hall of Famer “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan who he described as “double tough.” Anderson said that he met the big and rugged Jim Duggan whilst Duggan was working as a heel for Bill Watts and that despite becoming a babyface when working for Vince McMahon’s promotion, he didn’t change his wrestling style at all.
