A WWE Hall of Famer has defended Jey Uso being in a major match at WrestleMania and has also shot down a theory regarding low ticket sales for the event.
The 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble saw one of the most surprising results in recent memory as Uso eliminated odds-on favourite John Cena to win the match and secure his spot at WrestleMania. Later that month, Uso made his decision and elected to challenge World Heavyweight Champion Gunther in Las Vegas at the biggest show of the year.
Although fans in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis were happy with the result and those in attendance at subsequent Raw tapings have been very happy to see Uso and Yeet along with his entrance, the same could not be said for a portion of the online fans who were critical of the decision and have expressed their displeasure over the upcoming title match.
Speaking about the build to WrestleMania on the Off The Top podcast, Rikishi’s co-host noted that there are low ticket sales for WrestleMania 41 and put the blame on the economy as opposed to any of the talent. Interjecting, Rikishi stated that Uso was not responsible for the decline:
“It ain’t because it’s my son. So let’s make that clear, right? I don’t read a lot of stuff that’s out there, nor do I give a damn. The bottom line is, don’t hate the player, hate the game.”
Later in the interview, Rikishi pointed out that while ticket sales may be low, the same can not be said for Uso’s merch sales, a sign of his popularity:
“You see the ticket sales. You see the — now we talk about tickets? Go check the revenue on merchandise. Go ahead and see your kid, like, look at your kids around your inner circle, or your family who merchandise they wearing?’ You got yeet, yeet, even the pets are saying yeet.’ Come on. So at the end of the day here man, enjoy the ride with the YeetMania. Enjoy the ride with the Yeet Man. You know? I mean, don’t get hot at the guy or some of those haters. I don’t even want to give those guys any, give them any clout.”
Jey Uso Addresses His Spot On The Card
Although Gunther vs. Uso is now locked in for WrestleMania, it is unknown at this time which night of WrestleMania the match will take place or where it will be positioned on the card. In a recent interview, Jey Uso explained why he is not too concerned about his match headlining WrestleMania.
