One WWE Hall of Famer has advice for Nia Jax.
Nia Jax was the subject of plenty of criticism following her WarGames performance at Survivor Series. Many fans took the WWE Women’s Champion to task for the chair shots she delivered in the match, and speaking on the latest edition of Off the Top, Rikishi encouraged Jax to put more force behind her swings.
“As a wrestler, I’ll tell you what. As a Samoan, you gotta swing that damn thing.”
After questioning whether Jax was properly trained in the use of weapons during her time in NXT, the WWE Hall of Famer continued:
“It almost looked like a love tap. I don’t feel like she wanted to swing the chair, but she didn’t want to hurt somebody.”
“Swing That Damn Thing Like Babe Ruth” – Rikishi’s Advice To Nia Jax
According to Rikishi, Nia Jax shouldn’t be afraid to hit her opponents with a chair as no one involved in the wrestling business should complain about taking such blows in the ring.
“Nia, if you’re listening, next time you grab that chair, It’s okay. Swing that damn thing like Babe Ruth. I want you to knock it out of the park, and if anybody comes to you complaining about it, about the chair shot, well, hey, this is the game that we’re in. This is what it is. If you can’t take a chair shot, well, you are in the wrong business.”
Finally, Rikishi pointed to the slow motion editing of some of Jax’s segments and encouraged Jax to put aside her emotion when she’s in the ring.
“I didn’t know if it was from slow motion from editing, but when I kept looking at it, just the way she was swinging it, like, Nia, if you’re listening, next time you grab that chair, It’s okay. Who knows the emotion? Is this a friend? What I’m saying is, you gotta put that out from your head when you’re performing.”
The Hall of Famer made it clear that he doesn’t encourage injuring opponents with chair shots, simply that the shots need to look effective to an audience.
“If I hit you with a chair, like, I’m gonna hit you with it, but it doesn’t mean that I’m gonna hit you hard, like I’m mad at you. It’s never that. We gotta protect what we got.”
Finally, Rikishi gave a lighthearted invitation for Jax to join him at his KnokX Pro training school in order to improve her technique.
“You come to KnokX Pro. Let me show you how to swing that chair the right way. Keep practicing.”
