Cody Rhodes sensationally left All Elite Wrestling in February 2022 after helping found the company.
The American Nightmare played a significant role in getting the promotion off the ground and became a regular figure on television for the early years of its existence. However, by early 2022 it had been revealed that Rhodes was working without a contract, and on February 15th he announced he and his wife Brandi had left the company.
This paved the way for a return to WWE and a marquee match at WrestleMania 38 against Seth Rollins. At the time, neither Rhodes nor the AEW President commented on the situation, and very little is known about the relationship between the two men.
Speaking on a recent episode of his podcast Arn, Arn Anderson gave his take on the relationship between Khan and Rhodes a year on from their professional break-up. Anderson, who was also close with Cody’s father Dusty Rhodes, said that he believes there’s no “ill will” between the pair.
“Best luck to Cody,” Anderson said. “I think Tony Khan has no ill will towards Cody or vice versa. It’s just one of those things that happens.”
Cody Rhodes Heading To WrestleMania 39 Main Event
After beginning his second WWE career on high, Cody Rhodes suffered a serious pectoral injury that kept him out of action for a number of months. However, he marked his return at the Royal Rumble with victory in the men’s Rumble Match, booking himself a shot at Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. Although a new report has revealed that the original plans for Rhodes looked slightly different.
The report stated that Reigns would have lost one of his World Titles before taking on The Rock at the spectacular. This would have left Rhodes or Drew McIntyre to face Seth Rolins for the championship that had been freed up by Reigns.
