WWE Hall Of Famer Claims Hulk Hogan Got Them Fired From WCW

Hall of Famer Jesse Ventura has claimed that Hulk Hogan was responsible for his WCW firing following on from their previous animosity in WWE.

Ventura famously attempted to form a wrestlers union shortly before WrestleMania 2 but plans were halted when Vince McMahon was secretly informed of the plans. During the deposition, it was revealed that Hogan was the one who told McMahon about Ventura’s union plans, betraying his former friend. Following another dispute with McMahon over royalty payments, Ventura left the company in August 1990.

The Hall of Famer made his return to wrestling in 1992, this time for WCW. However, his time in the promotion would be short-lived, which Ventura once again blames on Hogan.

Speaking on The Bill Simmons Podcast, Ventura recalled Eric Bischoff hiring Hogan without his knowledge and that Hogan was responsible for his termination:

“Eric Bischoff then got the head job at WCW, and then behind my back, he went out and got Hogan. He (Hogan) came in, got me immediately fired because he took over my look. He put the shades on, he put the do-rag on, and he became a villain. He couldn’t have Jesse Ventura be there and become Jesse Ventura, so he got me fired, and in essence, my wrestling career was over.”

Hogan was hired by WCW in March 1994 and Ventura was fired from WCW in July 1994.

Jesse Ventura will return to WWE on December 14th as an announcer for the Saturday Night’s Main Event special. While not yet announced, Hulk Hogan has also been rumoured to be appearing at the show.
