WWE Hall Of Famer Gave Life Changing Advice To Cody Rhodes

WWE star Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes once received some memorable advice from a WWE Hall of Famer.

The American Nightmare may be one of the most successful superstars in WWE today, but that didn’t always reflect during his initial run with the company between 2006 and 2016. Despite the challenging first tenure with the Stamford-based promotion, The American Nightmare noted that things started to pick up due to Rey Mysterio.

In the uploaded clip from the What Do You Wanna Talk About? With Cody Rhodes podcast where Jelly Roll appeared as the guest, titled Cody Rhodes on the life-changing advice Rey Mysterio gave him, the Undisputed WWE Champion shared that he got his first big break in the company because of the Hall of Famer:

There was a moment at the BOK Center, I’m in Oklahoma, and I was walking by the Chairman’s office, and Rey Mysterio pulled me aside and said, ‘Hey, I want to wrestle you at WrestleMania. We’re gonna go in [sic] the office and talk about it.’ And I was ready, and I had my idea, and it was even written down in my backpack. But when I went in that room, when I came out, my career was different. It genuinely was a break beyond it wasn’t just an opportunity, it was a break, it was something special.”

2011 marked the year Cody debuted his “Undashing” self after his nose was legitimately broken by Mysterio during a match, causing him to wear a clear protective mask. They fought at WrestleMania XXVII, which was won by Rhodes. Later that year, he became the Intercontinental Champion.

Cody Rhodes Is Unsure How He Would Thank WWE Hall Of Famer Rey Mysterio

In the same conversation, the Undisputed WWE Champion admitted that he never truly figured out how to thank Rey Mysterio for helping him with his career aside from letting the Hall of Famer know that what he did was “the most important thing” for his career.

I forever, even though I don’t share it with him enough. I forever think of Rey [Mysterio] as if there’s nothing. I have nothing. If this moment never happens. And I often think about, ‘how do you thank somebody? Do you thank Dom? Do you befriend Dom? Do you watch over him? What is it?’ And I’ve never really figured out, other than saying it, ‘Hey, this was one of the most important things, if not the most important thing.'”
