A new report has claimed that a WWE Hall of Famer “quickly rejected” an offer from the newly relaunched Women of Wrestling.
Back in January it was reported that AEW reached out to WWE legend Lita with a pitch that would have seen her work with then-AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker. It was also noted at the time that AEW weren’t the only promotion to reach out to the star.
It has now been reported that the other promotion in question was the newly relaunched Women of Wrestling.
Back in October 2021 it was announced that WOW Women of Wrestling would be returning to TV screens. While details on the relaunch remain thin on the ground, the company recently held their first set of television tapings.
The new report from Fightful Select notes that WOW “at least made an overture” to Lita before the company announced their intention to return to television. However, things didn’t get very far as the former WWE Women’s Champion made it clear she had no interest in working with the company or it’s owner David McLane.
A source within the company said that Lita “made her feelings about McLane very obvious, and quickly rejected the overture.”
It was recently reported that Women of Wrestling issued a casting call for their upcoming set of tapings. The promotion was looking for “fun and energetic extras” to play fans at the tapings from July 13th to July 15th.
The taping are set to take place in downtown Los Angeles, while successful applicants can expect to be paid $40.
Back in May it was reported that Blanchard and the promotion had “fallen out” while she was training other wrestlers. A source is reported to have alleged that Tessa Blanchard cut a promo that saw her “tear apart” fellow wrestler Samantha Sage who competes as Americana.
An anonymous source is also reported to have implied Tessa Blanchard may only be able to now work in Mexico as they were quoted as saying “If you are a fan of Tessa, you’d better learn Spanish.”
