WWE Give Fresh Update On Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes

Speaking on Friday Night SmackDown, Michael Cole gave an update on the condition of Cody Rhodes, revealing just how long he will be out of action.

After returning to WWE at WrestleMania 38, Cody Rhodes has been riding the crest of a wave. The American Nightmare defeated Seth Rollins at WrestleMania before repeating the trick at WrestleMania Backlash.

However, Rollins wasn’t quite ready to give up the fight, and that set up a third and final match at Hell In A Cell, inside the structure of the same name.

Unfortunately, just hours before the show began, WWE announced that Rhodes had suffered an injury. Not only that, he had torn his pectoral tendon off the bone. Yet despite the serious nature of the injury, Rhodes still wrestled as planned, and pinned Rollins for a third time.

On the following episode of Raw, Rollins attacked Rhodes one more time to leave him laying. As a result of the injury, Rhodes underwent surgery which was expected to keep him out for a number of months.

Speaking in a short segment on the June 10th edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Michael Cole offered an update on Cody Rhodes’ condition. Cole explained that Rhodes’ surgery had been successful, and he is expected to be out of action for nine months.

The clash between Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes at Hell In A Cell has also become the first WWE main roster bout to be awarded five stars by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer for more than a decade.

The last bout to be handed the rating was the clash between CM Punk and John Cena at Money In The Bank in 2011.

The last WWE match of any kind to receive the rating was the brutal encounter between WALTER (Gunther) and Ilja Dragunov at NXT TakeOver 36 in August 2021.
