WWE Makes First Reference To Sasha Banks Following Walkout

Sasha Banks

During Extreme Rules, Sasha Banks was mentioned by name on commentary for the first time since she and Naomi walked out of WWE five months ago.

Sasha Banks hasn’t been seen on WWE TV since the May 13th edition of SmackDown, where she and Naomi successfully defended the Women’s Tag Team Championship against Natalya and Shayna Baszler.

The duo appeared at the two following live events before walking out of the company during the May 16th edition of Raw.

Following what was reported as disagreements over creative, the pair were stripped of their Women’s Tag Team Titles and suspended indefinitely.

However, since Triple H took over as Head of Creative there have been reports suggesting that a return for the pair could be imminent. Despite this, neither woman has yet come back.

Now, in a possible indication that relations have thawed between the two parties, during Extreme Rules Michael Cole mentioned Sasha Banks by name when discussing Bayley’s NXT history.

Sasha Banks and Bayley had a legendary rivalry during their NXT days, culminating in Bayley first defeating The Boss for the NXT Women’s Championship at TakeOver: Brooklyn in August 2015.

She then successfully defended the title against Banks two months later in a classic Iron Woman match at TakeOver: Respect.

Unfortunately for The Role Model, she was unable to recreate her winning ways at Extreme Rules. Taking on Bianca Belair in a Ladder match for the Raw Women’s Championship, Bayley appeared to have the upper hand several times, but in the end, Belair hit her with a brutal KOD onto a ladder before climbing up to claim her title.
