WWE has recently filed to trademark ‘The Way’.
On November 5th, the company filed to trademark the phrase under the entertainment services classification, with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The filing for the trademark noted the following:
International Class 041: Wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports via an online community portal.
Intent to Use: The applicant has a bona fide intention, and is entitled, to use the mark in commerce on or in connection with the identified goods/services.
WWE have yet to release any additional information regarding “The Way”. However, internet speculation suggests the name could be used for a new event held by the company in the future, due to the phrase being being filed under ‘wrestling exhibitions and performances.’
Other online speculations point toward Star Wars: The Mandalorian, featuring current WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks. “There is The Way” is a common phrase used on the show, leading online fans to question if there is a potential link between the two.
