When WWE sign new talent it is commonplace for them to assign new ring names for the budding Superstars in order for them to better control the intellectual property for both the present time and as the talents career journey continues.
Future title winning Superstars like Seth Rollins, Bayley and Roman Reigns, for example, were all christened with new monikers ahead of their NXT debuts and the company has added to their list of trademarks with a recent filing for a potential new Superstar.
