WWE fans aren’t happy with Cody Rhodes winning over Randy Orton in the final of the King of the Ring Tournament.
The WWE Night of Champions 2025 opened with the King of the Ring Tournament final between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton. Despite the best efforts of The Viper, it was The American Nightmare who walked out as the victor and now has a chance to battle for a World Championship at SummerSlam. However, fans weren’t the happiest about the result.

In the graphic WWE posted following Cody Rhodes’ Night of Champions win, fans expressed that Randy shouldn’t have lost King of the Ring two years in a row, and that Orton should have had a Triple Threat Match against John Cena and CM Punk at SummerSlam.

Cody Rhodes Showed A Different Side Of Himself at the WWE King of The Ring Tournament Final
Cody Rhodes has been one of the biggest babyfaces in the Stamford-based company since he returned in 2022. However, his nice side cost him the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41 against John Cena. Due to this, The American Nightmare showed a more vicious side of himself at the King of the Ring Tournament final.
Fans noted how the King of the Ring winner targeted Randy Orton’s back, where he had suffered a serious injury that had sidelined him for nearly 18 months, not too long ago. Rhodes even used an exposed turnbuckle to hurt The Viper further to finally get the win.
