Sports entertainment is often full of bizarre and controversial characters and one WWE Executive has revealed that he still does not know what to make of one of them.
WWE Hall Of Famer Doesn’t Understand Broken Matt Hardy
Speaking on a recent edition of his podcast ‘Oh You Didn’t Know’, WWE Hall of Famer and Senior Vice President Of Live Events Brian ‘Road Dogg’ James revealed that to this day he is perplexed by Matt Hardy’s ‘Broken Matt’ Gimmick:
I did [see Broken Matt in TNA] and I didn’t know what to think of it. And to this day, and I’m not I’m not a hater. I love Matt and Jeff and that’s the truth. I don’t know, I still don’t know what to think of it. I don’t know what it is, maybe I didn’t see the incarnation of it. Or maybe I didn’t understand where it came from or how it started. But it’s, I don’t know, I didn’t get it then and I don’t get it now. Maybe you can explain it to me and then I’ll go like oh crap that’s awesome
The former 6 time WWE Tag Team Champion, who also held the WWE Intercontinental and WWE Hardcore Titles, was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2019 largely for his role in D-Generation X but admitted he wasn’t sure if he knew what was cool in the modern era:
I know it caught on and I know it was huge on social media. But I didn’t get Broken Matt Hardy…at the time I was also 46 or 47 years old and probably a nerd. I don’t know if I’m cool or not, I think I used to be, at least I’m told, I don’t know! It wasn’t for me apparently because I was like ‘so he talks weird now but wrestles the same?’. It was weird to me but I’m also smart enough to know I’m not smart enough. I saw it get over and his popularity during that phase. I just know it wasn’t for me
James’ podcast hit the headlines recently when he make controversial comments about the talents of fellow WWE Hall Of Famer Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart.
He will return to WWE television alongside fellow DX members X-Pac, Shawn Michaels and Triple H on the 30th Anniversary of RAW this coming Monday night in Philadelphia.
