A WWE Vice President is delighted that The Rock is a part of the TKO Board of Directors.
On January 23rd it was announced that The Rock would be a major part of TKO Holdings, joining the company in an executive position. Additionally, the Hollywood star, real name Dwayne Johnson, obtained the rights to his WWE persona for the next 10 years.
With one of the biggest stars in wrestling and entertainment playing a major part in the company’s future, many are excited about the news and what’s next.
Speaking on the Oh… You Didn’t Know podcast, Senior Vice President of Live Events “Road Dogg” Brian James was asked about The People’s Champion joining the Board of Directors. The Hall of Famer admitted that he is very happy about the former World Champion being a part of the company and complimented his previous successes in business:
“I love it. He is spreading his wings, and I’m actually surprised he hasn’t thrown his hat into the ring this year to be the president. But maybe he’s waiting till 2028. But, more power to him. He’s a brilliant businessman, his team that he surrounds himself with are all super overcompetent people that perform and produce, and so anything he’s in, I’m down. I’m down, show me the way, point me to it.”
Road Dogg continued, noting that the Hollywood star’s previous experience in the wrestling world would be extremely valuable when it comes to making key decisions:
“Never before would you have had a guy who’s done it all and been through it all — and I mean from making miles in Memphis to getting called up to where he stands today, the journey all in between. Now you got a dude who’s literally lived the life, like you said, in the committee, in the boardroom, and so that’s pretty cool because he will definitely have the sports entertainer’s best interest at heart. He knows the struggles, he knows the perks,”
The Rock would go on to recap the historic day on social media.
Will The Rock Face Roman Reigns?
Prior to The Great One being named a part of the TKO Board of Directors, many expected an inevitable showdown with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania following comments made on the New Year’s Day episode of Raw. Following the events that took place at the Royal Rumble, which saw Cody Rhodes triumph once again, it appears the battle for the undisputed Head of the Table will not be happening in Philadelphia. However, WWE are still planning to have The Rock face Roman Reigns in the future.
