WWE Executive Bruce Prichard Bluntly Assesses Former Superstar's Shortcomings

In a recent episode of his “Something To Wrestle” podcast, WWE executive Bruce Prichard provided a candid assessment of former WWE Superstar Tyson Tomko, stating that the wrestler “just wasn’t that good.”

Prichard’s comments came as he was discussing the 2004 WWE Vengeance pay-per-view, where Tomko had a match on the pre-show against Val Venis. When asked why Tomko didn’t have a longer run in WWE, Prichard did not mince words.

Because he just wasn’t that good. He’s a big guy, nice guy. But there was just something missing. He didn’t have a logical feel or instinct for the business. Instinct is probably a better word, because he didn’t know logically what to do next.

Despite Tomko’s impressive physical appearance, Prichard felt that his in-ring performance was not up to par with the demands of WWE.

He had all the tools, looked great, he looked like a million bucks. He looked like the kind of guy that’s gonna be a big nasty heel that you want to be on top that people can believe in just by looking at a picture of him. And then that damn bell would have to ring and I just don’t know that Travis was able to deliver once the bell rang. Actually, I do know… he wasn’t [able to deliver].

Tomko’s main roster run in WWE spanned from 2004 to 2006 before he departed the company following WrestleMania 22. He would go on to work in New Japan Pro Wrestling, TNA, and the independent circuit before retiring in 2016.
