It has been reported by Fox Sport correspondent, Ryan Satin, that the 2020 WWE Draft will be almost identical to the 2019 WWE Draft.
Each wrestler listed on the Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown roster will be placed into a pool with the red brand receiving three picks and the blue offering just two.
It was also noted by Satin that stables and tag teams will be drafted together and not split. The only exception to this rule will be if Raw and SmackDown’s respective networks want a specific wrestler from the opposite show on their channel. For example, Raw could keep The Hurt Business but FOX could request WWE draft Bobby Lashley to Friday Night SmackDown.
Finally, any wrestler that remained undrafted would be considered a free agent and available to negotiate with any WWE brand that took their fancy.
A full list of the WWE 2020 Draft rules are as follows:
- More than 60 male and female superstars, including tag teams have been placed into the 2020 WWE Draft.
- Since Friday Night SmackDown is a two-hour show and Monday Night Raw is a three-hour show, for every two picks SmackDown makes, Raw will be awarded three.
- Tag teams and stables will still count as one unless FOX or USA Network wants to pick one name from a team.
- Any undrafted WWE Superstars will be declared free agents and be able to sign with the brand of their choosing.
Almost every available main roster WWE star is available to draft, however, only a specific list of names from both brands will be available to choose on Friday and Monday night.
On the October 9, Friday Night SmackDown, the names available to both brands are as follows:
Drew McIntyre, Asuka, Sasha Banks, Bianca Belair, Dana Brooke, Humberto Carrillo, Elias, Angel Garza, Drew Gulak, Heavy Machinery, The Hurt Business, Mickie James, Lucha House Party, Murphy, Rey and Dominik Mysterio, Naomi, The New Day, Roman Reigns, Ricochet, Seth Rollins, Mandy Rose, Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax, Shorty G, AJ Styles, Jey Uso.
Interestingly, Rey and Dominik Mysterio are being classed as a tag team in this year’s draft and of course the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Baszler and Jax will still be able to float between brands in order to defend their championships.
On Monday October 12, only the following wrestlers will be available to draft
Randy Orton, Andrade, Bayley, Aleister Black, Alexa Bliss, Daniel Bryan, Carmella, King Corbin, Apollo Crews, Nikki Cross, Dabba-Kato, Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode, Erik, Lacey Evans, Charlotte Flair, Jeff Hardy, Billie Kay, Lana, Keith Lee, The Miz and John Morrison, Riddick Moss, Natalya, Titus O’Neil, Kevin Owens, R-Truth, RETRIBUTION, Matt Riddle, The Riott Squad, Peyton Royce, Arturo Ruas, Sheamus, Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro, The Street Profits, Braun Strowman, Tamina, Akira Tozawa, Zelina Vega, Bray Wyatt, Sami Zayn.
Taken from this list, WWE clearly are not expecting Ivar of The Viking Raiders to return to action for some time as they are only including Erik in the 2020 Draft.
Inside the Ropes will have all the latest news from this year’s WWE Draft which begins tomorrow night.
