A new report suggests the annual WWE Draft could still happen before the end of this year.
It has previously been reported that several Raw talents were booked for the first SmackDown after next month’s Clash at the Castle event in the UK. Likewise, it seemed many SmackDown stars were scheduled to appear on the September 5th edition of Raw.
This led to speculation about the annual WWE Draft potentially returning this fall. However, further reports contradicted that, noting that several Raw stars were un-booked from the first SmackDown show in September, leaving everyone to believe the WWE Draft wouldn’t be taking place this year.
A new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggests talks regarding the WWE Draft have at least occurred backstage. According to the report, there was a mention of the WWE Draft taking place in October.
“Regarding talk of the draft, there was mention of October but there is no date etched in stone. We are told it is undecided at the moment but Paul Levesque knows it’s a decision he has to make, as far as if or when.”
If the WWE Draft does happen around October, it will put it in the same ballpark as the Extreme Rules Premium Live Event Interestingly, it also puts it ahead of Survivor Series in November, an event that pits Raw and SmackDown stars against one another.
The company recently revealed the new Survivor Series logo on its website. The logo hints that the brand warfare theme of the previous events will return for this year’s show in Boston.
