Hulk Hogan said there was potential for his son Nick Hogan to compete at WrestleMania 39, but those at WWE deny such a possibility taking place.
Hogan sat down with Chris Van Vliet for a new interview and the pro wrestling legend covered a lot of ground, including him recently re-signing with WWE and even made claims that he was going to be involved in WrestleMania 39 along with his son Nick, who never has been in a mainstream wrestling ring before. Hulk Hogan said he wasn’t up for getting physical, but he talks about his supposed repeated conversations with Shane McMahon for plans involving Nick.
“Shane had called me and sent me a picture from Madison Square Garden, I guess they got a hall of fame walk in there. Shane sent me a picture of him standing in front of my stuff and he goes, ‘Hey old timer, you got one more left in you?’ I went, ‘Okay, what are you thinking?’ He goes, ‘Well, I don’t know if you had one more left in you, or maybe a surrogate such as Nick…’
“I said, ‘Well I don’t know. There’s a possibility to maybe do something, whatever the storyline is. Maybe, Nick is a heel and [he says that Shane destroyed his father’s career].’ I don’t know, there’s a million ways to do it but then a couple of weeks later, Shane got hurt or something with his quad…”
WWE Source Says “No Way” Was Hulk Hogan’s Son Considered For WrestleMania
After the new interview was released and this particular topic caught fire online, Fightful Select reached out to their sources at WWE and one of them had the following to say about Hogan’s story.
“In no way is that true. I can’t think of a time in the last 13 or 14 years that Nick Hogan’s name was brought up at all, much less in a creative capacity. There has never been a serious conversation about him being involved in anything that I can think of. Even when Hulk would mention him being involved in things, there just wasn’t an interest or a benefit to that.”
As far as Hulk Hogan wrestling at WrestleMania, he did claim that he was slated to wrestle his retirement match against John Cena at WrestleMania 25, but his back went out when he was talking to Vince McMahon on the phone.
