WWE Dealt Huge Blow In Pursuit Of Major Free Agent

WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H

One of the hallmarks of the ‘Triple H era’ of WWE has been his desire to bring back former Superstars and sign new ones.

While the likes of Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman, and Dakota Kai have all returned, the company recently signed Mexican star Dragon Lee with the promise of more new faces on the way.

One of the names most heavily linked with making the move to WWE is Jay White. It’s no secret that WWE holds an interest in the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, while he wants to continue his career in the United States.

It was recently reported that White has been negotiating with both WWE and AEW. The star already has links with the Tony Khan-led promotion, having appeared for them previously. However, it has now been claimed that the longer it goes without White committing to AEW, the more chance WWE believes they have of landing the star.

The report from Wrestle Votes via GiveMeSport, states that WWE is growing increasingly confident of landing the star.

“I heard recently from a source that the longer that Jay White doesn’t show up in Jacksonville, the more confident WWE is.”

However, by the same token, it appears that a deal to secure the signature of fellow free agent Kota Ibushi is moving further away. The word is that Ibushi doesn’t want to sign a full-time contract with either WWE or AEW, meaning a deal with the sports entertainment giant is unlikely.

Latest WWE Signing Set For Debut

Dragon Lee signed with WWE back in December but was forced to wait before making his NXT debut. After working off some ring rust at a recent live event, the star is set to make his televised debut in the Fatal-Five-Way match for the North American Title at NXT Stand & Deliver.
