A new report has offered an update on the storyline between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar including whether they’ll go face to face before SummerSlam.
At SummerSlam on July 30th Brock Lesnar will challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. The clash is being advertised as a Last Man Standing Match and the final time that the pair will meet in a WWE ring.
Since Lesnar returned to SmackDown in June and attacked his rival, the two men have been kept apart as the hype train runs into Nashville for SummerSlam.
Interestingly, it seems that this strategy looks set to continue. Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that they will not be on the same show until SummerSlam.
“The interesting main event strategy is that aside from the angle shot when Lesnar returned and laid out Reigns, it has been to keep the two apart. Unless plans change, the two will not be on the same in the entire last month of the build. Lesnar is advertised for Smackdown on 7/22 in Boston and 7/29 in Atlanta.
Reigns is only advertised this week for the 7/25 Raw show in Madison Square Garden. One would think they would have Reigns in Atlanta for the Smackdown go-home show. Not only is he not advertised but as of a few times ago he was not planned for that show.”
Despite SummerSlam being less than two weeks away, it was recently reported that some within WWE “don’t like” the card for the summer spectacular. This is despite those same officials people being responsible for booking the event.
