A new report has claimed that WWE have been in contact with not one, but two former Superstars in an effort to get them to return to the company.
From the moment that Triple H was made Head of WWE Creative speculation began swirling around a number of former WWE Superstars who might potentially return to the company.
As various names did the rounds on social media, WWE didn’t leave fans waiting long by re-introducing Dakota Kai at SummerSlam along with long-term absentee Bayley. The pair were also joined by Io Shirai (Iyo Sky) who it appeared was on the verge of the leaving the company.
There have also been reports that an agreement has been reached for Sasha Banks and Naomi to return to WWE television, following their walk-out and subsequent exile.
This was followed up on the August 5th episode of SmackDown where Karrion Kross and Scarlett made shock returns in the main event segment. Kross appeared from nowhere and attacked Drew McIntyre as Roman Reigns watched on.
Reports have also suggested that Triple H will remain aggressive as he reshapes the main roster, something which appears to be coming to pass.
It has been reported by Fightful Select that there have been discussions within WWE about bringing back Dexter Lumis. With “higher-ups” planning to reach out to the star last week. Interestingly, this appears to tie-in to reports linking Johnny Gargano with a return, maybe as early as August 8th, with Raw coming live from his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio.
The report from Fightful adds that Shawn Michaels was tasked with reaching out to Gargano shortly after Vince McMahon retired and Triple H took over creative. At present there is no word on how these talks went.
The potential returns of Lumis and Gargano could signal a comeback for The Way, the group made up of Gargano, Lumis, Indi Hartwell and Theory which was highly popular in NXT.
Speaking during an appearance at Starrcast V on a special panel with Inside The Ropes’ very own Kenny McIntosh, Gargano addressed his future, explaining there were positives as negatives with both WWE and AEW.
