WWE are looking to change the line-up for WrestleMania 40 drastically.
Although plans were seemingly in place for a number of weeks, multiple top stars are no longer able to compete at the event. Along with Charlotte Flair recovering from a major ACL tear, CM Punk made the devastating announcement on January 29th that he would also miss the event due to being sidelined with injury.
Another former champion who is extremely unlikely to be making an appearance at the event is Brock Lesnar. In the lawsuit that accused Vince McMahon of multiple accounts of sex trafficking and sexual assault, an unnamed party is listed as a former UFC Heavyweight Champion who was looking to re-sign with the company in 2021. With multiple media outlets identifying this individual as Brock Lesnar, the former World Champion was removed from the Royal Rumble and is not expected to return.
With multiple top matches out of the question, WWE is assessing their options and may make some unexpected changes. As reported by WrestleVotes, the promotion is considering “just about everything” to restructure the card and certain undercard talent are being considered to be put in more prominent positions:
“Between the unfortunate injury to CM Punk, the questionable status of Seth Rollins and the pulling of Brock Lesnar, the WrestleMania card has took a sharp turn. Source said there are a number of brand new “card variations” on the table, including some superstars who were not pegged towards the top just days ago. I’m being told they will take their time to figure things out and consider “just about everything.”
Another Top WWE Star May Miss WrestleMania
CM Punk is not the only Superstar who is dealing with a serious injury. Reported on the same day as Punk, a SmackDown star’s WrestleMania status looks to be up in the air as they are dealing with a major fracture.
