WWE Reportedly Considering ‘Forbidden Door’ Royal Rumble Entrant

2022 Royal Rumble WWE

A new report has claimed that WWE are “open to the idea” of using a ‘Forbidden Door’ entrant in the men’s Royal Rumble match.

While the ‘Forbidden Door’ appears to become less and less forbidden with every passing day, the prospect of a wrestler appearing in a rival company unannounced with very rarely not excite fans.

On the January 7th edition of SmackDown WWE set tongues wagging by announcing that Mickie James would be appearing in the women’s Royal Rumble match.

Not only was this out of the blue announcement notable because James was released by the company in April 2021 and has on occasion been less than complimentary about her recent there. It was also shocking from the standpoint that James is the current Knockouts Women’s Champion, and was acknowledged as such by WWE.

Once fans were over the surprise announcement, speculation naturally began as to whether similar surprise entrants might appear in the men’s match.

Interestingly, despite such an appearance seeming unlikely, a new report from Wrestle Votes has claimed that WWE are open to the idea.

To date only a handful of entrants into the men’s match have been confirmed. These are Rey and Domink Mysterio, The Street Profits, Austin Theory, Sheamus and somewhat bizarrely Johnny Knoxville from Jackass.

Aside from the two Royal Rumble matches it has been announced that Brock Lesnar will defend his WWE Championship against Bobby Lashley. The match-up which has been years in the making was confirmed when Lashley defeated Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins and Big E to become the number one contender.

Meanwhile, Becky Lynch will defend her Raw Women’s Championship against either Bianca Belair, Doudrop or Liv Morgan.

The event will also see Beth Phoenix return to action when she teams with her husband Edge to face The Miz and Maryse.
