WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon has confirmed the company is in the midst of creating an RPG as they increase their gaming profile.
During WWE’s most recent quarterly earnings call, Stephanie McMahon announced that the company had “recently signed a new deal in the role-playing game space that will be announced soon.”
McMahon went on to add that increasing the sports entertainment giant’s presence in the gaming world is something that the company is keen to do on the basis that “gaming is a priority for WWE to reach our next-gen audience with over 80% of WWE’s audience self-identifying as gamers.”
Stephanie McMahon also addressed the company’s most recent game offering in WWE 2K22. She espoused that the game has been a huge success after there was no release in 2021 following the universally panned 2K20 offering:
“After taking a little more than a year off to improve the game engine, we worked hand in glove with our partners at Take-Two Interactive, listened to our customers and fans, and earned back their trust by delivering a game that exceeded their expectations. 2K22 was a commercial and critical success with the highest Metacritic scores on both Xbox and PlayStation platforms in franchise history with over 5.6 million hours viewed on Twitch to date.”
No further details on the RPG have been made available but stick with Inside The Ropes as the story develops.
