WWE Confirms 3 Massive Title Matches For NXT Battleground

Uncertainty Over Status Of WWE NXT Stars Following Recent Appearance

The first official matches for WWE NXT Battleground have been announced, with three championship bouts now confirmed for the premium live event set for Sunday, 25 May at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida.

Myles Borne earned his shot at the NXT Championship by winning a 25-man battle royal on Tuesday’s NXT, outlasting top contenders to become the number one challenger to Oba Femi. Borne’s No Quarter Catch Crew teammate, Charlie Dempsey, tried to lay claim to the title opportunity by invoking his leadership within the faction. However, Borne made it clear in a backstage segment with Femi that the title shot was his alone, leading to a tense confrontation between the two teammates. Dempsey will instead face Femi in a non-title match on next week’s NXT.

In the women’s division, Jordynne Grace secured a major win in Tuesday’s main event by defeating Giulia to earn a shot at the NXT Women’s Championship. Grace will now challenge reigning champion Stephanie Vaquer at Battleground. The two rivals closed the show with a face-to-face staredown in the ring, setting the tone for what promises to be a high-stakes clash.

History will also be made as the TNA World Championship is defended on an NXT premium live event for the first time ever. Joe Hendry will put the TNA title on the line against former NXT Champion Trick Williams. A contract signing for the match is scheduled for next Tuesday’s show.

The updated WWE NXT Battleground card features:

  • NXT Championship: Oba Femi (c) vs. Myles Borne
  • NXT Women’s Championship: Stephanie Vaquer (c) vs. Jordynne Grace
  • TNA World Championship: Joe Hendry (c) vs. Trick Williams

More matches are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
