A new report has claimed that WWE are growing increasingly concerned about the severity of Randy Orton’s back injury.
Randy Orton hasn’t appeared on WWE television since the May 20th episode of Friday Night SmackDown. On the show, Orton teamed with Matt Riddle to take on The Usos, as the two teams attempted to become WWE’s Undisputed Tag Team Champions.
After being defeated RK-Bro were beaten down by The Bloodline, and Orton hasn’t wrestled since.
It was then reporteded in June that Orton was undergoing treatment for a back injury that was becoming increasingly troublesome. The report suggested that those within WWE were concerned that the star may miss the rest of the year should he need to undergo surgery.
Since then updates on Orton’s condition have been few and far between, but a new report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has claimed that there is now a “lot of concern” regarding the injury.
“There is a lot of concern regarding Orton’s back injury and its severity.”
In Orton’s absence Matt Riddle initially continued his feud with Roman Reigns and The Bloodline before beginning a rivalry with Seth Rollins in July. The pair were originally scheduled to meet at SummerSlam but the match was postponed until Clash At The Castle.
At the British extravaganza Rollins scored the win, but the animosity between the two has continued to grow. Riddle and Rollins will look to finally settle their differences in a Fight Pit Match at Extreme Rules.
