Johnny Gargano’s WWE return was a big surprise for many…including the Monday RAW commentators.
Former NXT Champion, Johnny Gargano made his long-awaited return to WWE during the 8/22 episode of Monday Night RAW. While fans were certainly surprised that ‘Rebel Heart’ made his return, apparently so were Jimmy Smith, Byron Saxton, and Corey Graves on the RAW commentary team.
Graves explained that he, Saxton, and Smith weren’t smartened up to Gargano’s return ahead of time, when having Gargano as a guest on his latest ‘After The Bell‘ podcast:
“I don’t know if you know this about how tightly held the secret was regarding your return. We, the commentary team had no actual definitive answers on anything and as a matter of fact on our truck sheets, the lineup as to what’s scheduled to come in the show, it just said Austin Theory. So I am fully expecting to go into full cheerleader mode for Mr Money In The Bank Theory as a I do every week and I see your name come across the tron and if you notice none of the three of us said a word, we just let it breath.”
While Gargano has only made interview and promo appearances since his shocking return, it was announced on the 9/6 edition of WWE Monday Night RAW that Gargano will be competing, next week.
