A WWE Hall of Famer has admitted that CM Punk’s already infamous post-All Out media scrum antics were very entertaining.
While CM Punk claimed the AEW World Championship for a second time in the main event of All Out on September 4th, that victory pales in insignificance to what followed.
At the post-show media scrum Punk launched into an unexpected verbal assault on Colt Cabana, Hangman Adam Page, the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega as AEW President Tony Khan watched on. The comments sparked a brawl backstage which has led to a lengthy list of suspensions.
Reflecting on the surreal press conference on his DDP Snake Pit podcast, Diamond Dallas Page admitted that he was entertained by the chaos. Page explained that Punk always wears his heart on his sleeve and that it’s something that has served him well in the past. However, this time things might be a little different.
“I think guys saying sh*t and going into business for themselves. I mean, sh*t. I mean, that’s part of the business. It does happen, you don’t see it happening in WWE that often you know, I don’t remember the last time I saw it. But I did see it, we saw it in WCW. I guess.
Last week’s press conference, I got to [say] Punk was entertaining as f*ck to me, you know. I mean, it was like, it was entertaining to watch. And he was just, he’s a guy who wears his heart on his sleeve and says what he feels and you know, that’s really worked for him in the past, I don’t know well it is going to work for him moving forward.”
It has since been reported that CM Punk will be out of the ring for around eight months after undergoing surgery on a serious triceps injury. There have also been claims that the Young Bucks sent out feelers to WWE following the incident, but this has been denied.
