Bobby Lashley will defend his WWE Championship against former champion Kofi Kingston at WWE Money In The Bank.
Fresh from defeating Drew McIntyre at Hell In A Cell, Lashley and MVP hosted a celebration alongside ‘Lashley’s Ladies’ to open RAW. However, the festivities were cut short by the arrival of Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods who came to join the toast, by throwing… toast.
Kingston then laid down the challenge to Lashley, setting up the match for Money In The Bank. Not content with being merely a by-stander, Woods also got in on the action facing Lashley inside Hell In A Cell in the main event.
Despite a valiant effort from Woods, Lashley eventually emerged victorious. After the match, MVP entered the cell locking the door behind him, leaving Kingston to watch on as the pair beat down Woods.
Kingston hasn’t held the WWE Championship since 2019, where famously defeated Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35.
Elsewhere on the show it was also announced that Rhea Ripley will defend her RAW Women’s Championship against Charlotte.
At Hell In A Cell Ripley and Flair clashed for the title, but with Flair seemingly about to take a big step towards victory, Ripley got herself disqualified. This meant that while she officially lost the match, she retained her title as she was never pinned and didn’t submit.
On RAW, Ripley suggested that she had only broken the rules in the same way that Flair had done on numerous occasions throughout her career. This brought out Charlotte who actually praised Ripley for using her intelligence to keep hold of her championship.
As the war of words continued, Deville said that she was taking Flair’s words to mean she was asking for a rematch, so promptly granted her one.
WWE Money In The Bank will take place on July 18th in Fort Worth,Texas. The event will see a WWE pay-per-view take place in front of the crowd for the first time since February 2020.
