It has been announced that Big E will defend his WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre at WWE Crown Jewel on October 21st.
While Big E hasn’t even held the WWE Title for a month, he hasn’t been short of challengers. After dispatching Bobby Lashley on September 27th, the champion now has a new challenger.
On the most recent episode of Raw Big E came to the ring to reflect on his victory over Bobby Lashley. This naturally led to the subject of Drew McIntyre who came out at the end of the match to seemingly challenge The New Day star. In response, Big E asked for the Scottish Warrior to come to the ring.
However, instead of running down the champion as is somewhat customary, McIntyre instead praised the World Champion. The Scottish Superstar said that Big E deserved all of the success that had come his way, and that he had earned his respect. Despite this, McIntyre still wanted to get his hands on the WWE Championship.
Before the Scot could formally lay down his challenge the pair were interrupted by Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode. Ziggler proceeded to highlight his history with both men saying that all he wanted was a thank you for the role he had played in their careers. What Ziggler got instead was a match alongside Roode against Big D and Big E.
After Big E and McIntyre emerged victorious, the WWE Champion said that he would see the Scottish Warrior at Crown Jewel if he wanted a shot at the title.
The match was made official later in the show.
