WWE have officially announced that the WWE Championship Match between Drew McIntyre and AJ Styles at TLC on December 20 will be fought under the Tables, Ladder and Chairs stipulation.
The announcement comes after the company also applied the stipulation to Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens for the blue strap.
AJ Styles earned his shot at the gold after captaining Team Raw to a clean sweep at the 2020 Survivor Series on November 22. The following night on Raw, members of said team were placed in qualifying matches with the winners advancing to a Triple Threat Match the following week.
Conquering former WWE Champion, ‘The Viper’ Randy Orton, Styles joined Riddle and Keith Lee in a Sudden Death Triple Threat Match to determine Drew McIntyre’s opponent at the weapons filled event.
After thirteen minutes, it was ‘The Phenomenal One’ who prevailed and stepped into the shoes that were destined for Braun Strowman before ‘The Monster Among Men’ was struck down with injury.
Now, Drew McIntyre will battle AJ Styles in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match in a first ever singles meeting between both stars.
The card for WWE Tables, Ladders and Chairs 2020 shapes up like this so far:
- Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens – WWE Universal Championship Match/TLC Match
- Drew McIntyre vs. AJ Styles – WWE Championship Match/TLC Match
- Sasha Banks vs. Carmella – WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship Match
- Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler vs. Asuka and Lana – WWE Women’s Championship Match
- Randy Orton vs. ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt
WWE TLC will be the first pay-per-view event to emanate from the company’s new home of Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.
