WWE Champion Reflects On “Incredible” Journey That Led To Title Win At SummerSlam

WWE Champion Reflects On

A current champion in WWE has looked back on their journey to the top of the card.

Initially released in November 2021 as part of the many “budget cuts” releases that occurred during the pandemic, Nia Jax made her return to the company in September 2023. While Jax’s first run was met with criticism with many branding the new Women’s Champion unsafe, the current run has been much more well-received with many pointing out that Jax has improved significantly.

Continuing her rise to the top of the card in 2024, Jax was in the main event of Elimination Chamber against Rhea Ripley, defeated Lyra Valkyria in the final of the Queen of the Ring tournament and pinned Bayley at SummerSlam to become a 2-time Women’s Champion.

Addressing the victory at the SummerSlam post-show press conference, The Irresistible Force looked back on the events that transpired over the past year:

“It’s pretty incredible. A year ago, it was a different position for me. But I am so grateful to Triple H for taking a chance on me. Not just a year ago but ten years ago when he hired me here. So, it’s been an incredible journey and I’m grateful for the opportunity.”

WWE Champion Calls Out John Cena

Jax’s title triumph was the third of 4 championships to change hands at SummerSlam. Earlier in the night, Bron Breakker defeated Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn to win his first main roster championship. Aware that John Cena has never held the title, Bron Breakker called on the 16-time World Champion to “grow some balls.”
