WWE Champion Potentially Injured, Precautionary Measures Implemented

A current WWE Champion could be the latest Superstar to be sidelined with an injury.

The closing angle of the March 15th broadcast of SmackDown saw Bayley beaten down by Damage CTRL, ending her match with Dakota Kai in a disqualification. During the melee, Asuka was seen limping after landing awkwardly in the ring. With many concerned for the welfare of the Women’s Tag Team Champion, an unfortunate update has been provided.

As reported by PWInsider, Asuka hurt her knee during the taping and was removed from the live events that took place on March 16th and 17th. Iyo Sky replaced Asuka in the house show matches, which saw the duo lose to Naomi and Bianca Belair on both nights.

While it is highly likely that the original plan was for The Kabuki Warriors to defend the titles at WrestleMania, it is unknown which team(s) were set to be the opponents in Philadelphia.

WWE Injury Woes Continue

The Empress of Tomorrow is the latest Superstar to be uncertain for WrestleMania due to injury concerns. In late 2023, Charlotte Flair also suffered a knee injury which is expected to sideline the SmackDown star for the best part of a year. Additionally, CM Punk suffered a torn triceps injury when he competed in his return match at the Royal Rumble. Both Flair and Punk will not be competing at WrestleMania 40.

After suffering an injury in his match against Jinder Mahal, World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins also appeared to be in doubt for the show, putting the future of his title reign in serious jeopardy. Luckily for Rollins, he was able to avoid surgery and has been cleared to compete once more.

With the injury persisting, Asuka recently provided an update.

Inside The Ropes will provide more updates on this story when they become available.
