WWE Champion Humbled By John Cena’s Recent Compliments: “I Was A Cena Mark”

John Cena holding up Undisputed WWE Championship

Current WWE Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio has addressed John Cena’s recent compliments about him.

Earlier this year, at WrestleMania 41, both Dominik Mysterio and John Cena overcame all the odds to win the Intercontinental and WWE Championship. Since then, the duo has been on a dominant run, successfully defending their titles at the recently concluded Backlash PLE.

Earlier this year, during his appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, John Cena heaped praises on Dominik Mysterio. Following up on his kind words, ‘Dirty Dom’ shared his thoughts on the compliments during his recent interview on The Wrestling Classic on Casual Conversations.

“That was super dope of him to do that. John doesn’t have to do any of that stuff. He’s John Cena. He’s the biggest movie star in the world, along with the biggest wrestler currently in the world. For him to say those things about me, it’s really cool to see. Especially because I started with him when the pandemic ended and we had the live crowd back. He was the guy that was there for me with the tag matches and giving me advice. We were both babyfaces at that time. I was tagging with Cena and Rey Mysterio against Roman [Reigns] and The Usos [Jimmy Uso & Jey Uso].

I had Cena, Roman, the Usos in my ear this whole time. The fact that Cena was able to see me from that beginning to a year or two later when he came back, I was a bad guy then and I got to wrestle him in a dark match. He’s seen me through this whole process and what I’ve gone through. For him to say those words about me is really special. I’ve known that dude since I was a kid. I love the Dr. of Thuganomics. I played his album when I was in school or before I jumped in the shower. I was a Cena mark. It’s really cool to hear from a guy like that.”

A few years back, both Mysterio and Cena were two popular babyfaces, but now find themselves on the opposite end of the radar.

WWE Hall Of Famer Not Fond Of Recent John Cena Segment

At the Backlash post-show press conference, fans witnessed a tense segment between Cena and R-Truth, where The Leader of Cenation dropped R-Truth onto a table. Speaking about the aftermath on Busted Open Radio, Hall of Famer Bully Ray recalled the incident and shared his critical views on it.

“Sounded like somebody knocked over an ashtray. I didn’t feel bad for Ron Killings afterwards. What John did, I’ve seen so many times. I want some emotion. I want to feel so bad for Ron Killings in that moment that I want to punch John Cena in the face.”
