One current champion believes WWE WrestleMania should be held in an international location.
At Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 14th, Chelsea Green made history when she defeated Michin to become the first-ever Women’s United States Champion. Despite declaring her love for all things US of A in recent weeks, Chelsea Green is a proud Canadian, having been born and raised in Victoria, British Columbia.
Speaking in a new interview with Faces Magazine, Green called for WWE to bring its biggest show of the year back to Canada, saying the move is long overdue.
“We haven’t had a WrestleMania in Canada in over 20 years—it’s time. The fans here bring something special. Just look at how massive Money in the Bank was last year. Now, with WWE’s new Netflix deal giving Canadians access to Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and all premium live events, I think the timing is perfect.”
In another recent interview, Green pitched a dream match against another current champion.
When Was WWE WrestleMania Last Held In Canada?
The most recent WrestleMania to be held in Canada was WrestleMania X8, which took place on March 17th, 2002 inside the SkyDome (now known as the Rogers Centre) in Toronto, Ontario.
While a WWE Championship match between Triple H and Chris Jericho was the main event of the blockbuster show, the event is best remembered for the classic showdown between The Rock and Hulk Hogan. Despite Hogan being a heel going into the match, the crowd was firmly on his side, leading The Rock to adopt a heelish persona in the bout.
