At WWE SummerSlam Sami Zayn lost his prestigious Intercontinental Championship to Bron Breakker.
Sami Zayn won the championship from Gunther at WrestleMania 40 after a hard-hitting victory. Over the past few months, Zayn stood forward as a workhorse champion and defended the title multiple times.
However, in Cleveland despite giving his best shot, Zayn suffered a loss under Bron Breakker in under six minutes. Envisioned as one of the most dangerous men in the ring, Breakker recently broke his silence on Zayn’s future status in the company.
The former NXT Champion during the SummerSlam post show shared his thoughts on Zayn’s career and his future status.
I think we all should pay our respects and big shout-out to Sami Zayn. I’ve said it before, I’ve said it during this period of time that I’ve had with Sami. Sami has been on top for quite some time. He’s main-evented WrestleMania, he’s had the Intercontinental Championship multiple times, World Tag Team Champion. He’s had a Hall of Fame career. There’s no doubt he’s gonna be in the Hall of Fame one day.”
Breakker further revealed how Zayn’s kindness helped him advance in his career and finally win his first main roster championship.
He gave me an opportunity at the Intercontinental Championship when I was a new kid. No one really knew what I was capable of or what I was gonna do up here or any of that. He gave me an opportunity, he gave me a chance at the Intercontinental Championship, and I think I we all have to really respect that.”
