A current WWE champion has addressed her rumored “beef” with Mercedes Mone.
A few years ago, in 2022, Mercedes Mone and Naomi parted ways with the promotion and went their separate ways. While Naomi returned last year, Mone joined NJPW before becoming one of the biggest stars in AEW.
Mone is the current AEW TBS Champion, and Zelina Vega is the current WWE Women’s United States Champion. While separate champions on two different promotions, fans have often believed the two to share a beef, based on one of Vega’s past interviews. Recently, during Zelina Vega’s recent interview with DS Shin on Ring The Belle, she cleared all such rumors.
“So when it comes to me and Mercedes, we never had any beef. That’s what’s so funny. Back in the day, I had done an interview, which I remember talking to Naomi about this a long, long time ago. “
Vega further explained why she had spoken about Mone like that in the past video.
“I was like, it’d be really cool to get, cause I had known her prior for a while. So it was like, to get into, like, a thing with her. Like, hopefully we can get into something and WWE. Like, my brain was, I need to get to WWE any way possible. She’s one of the top girls. I want to get in the ring with her she’s dope, I want to do this. She was cool with it.
People use that clip as, like, oh, my God, they’ve had beef for forever, blah, blah, blah, and I’m like, I love that I convinced you all of that. I love that for me. But no none of us have ever had any beef. It’s so funny to me that, I’m the common denominator between all of the beef, apparently. I’m just like, well. She trains with my cousin. Like, what? Like, they’re trying to find any little thing. Like, if I genuinely hated somebody, do you think I’d be cool with that?”

Moving past those incidents, both Vega and Mone are two of the most successful names in WWE and AEW. While Vega recently retained her title against Chelsea Green at Saturday Night’s Main Event, the CEO is scheduled to face Toni Storm at All In 2025.
AEW Star Prince Nana Believes This Wrestler Can Reach The Potential Of Mercedes Mone And Toni Storm
In an interview on Punch-Out with Josh Nason,Prince Nana discussed the possibilities of working with promising All Elite Wrestling star Queen Aminata, and how she holds the potential to reach the status of Mercedes Mone and Toni Storm.
“It’s the same aura of when I was about to start working with Swerve [Strickland]. We are friends, and she’s great in the ring and this and that, but I know if they ever do take that step, that’s it. She’s on Mercedes Mone status and Toni Storm status in the wrestling business. She’ll even do it without me. She don’t need me.
But I know that if I could just add that to my collection — right now, it’s hard with Swerve. There’s a lot of business that needs to be taken care of. I don’t like to have too many things going on, but Queen Aminata, I’ll bring her in like that, my friend, and she’ll be a huge, huge, huge star. Even bigger than she is right now. I love Queen Aminata.”
